How to Bring Your Family to Saudi Arabia: 2026 Family Visit Visa Guide
Bringing your family over to live with you or visit in Saudi Arabia is one of the best parts of working in the Kingdom. Whether you're setting up your spouse and kids for a long stay or bringing your parents over for Umrah, getting a Saudi Family Visit Visa is pretty simple once you know the exact paperwork steps.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) handles most of this online now through Nafath. The portal works fast, but the system will reject your request immediately if a single letter in a name doesn't match a passport or if an attestation stamp is missing.
Here is how to get your family visit visa sorted out without getting stuck in administrative loops.
Who You Can Actually Sponsor
Before you log into any portals, make sure your visitors fit the basic rules:
You can sponsor immediate family members—that means your spouse, children, and parents. Bringing in-laws or brothers and sisters depends on your job category and whatever quota rules MOFA is running at the time.
Your own Iqama needs to have at least 90 days of life left on it when you submit the application. On top of that, your family members' passports need to be valid for at least six months from the day they plan to land.
Step 1: Submitting the Request on MOFA (Inside KSA)
Everything starts on the Saudi side with you handling the online application:
Head to the official MOFA Visa Services Platform and sign in using your Nafath account.
Select Family Visit Visa Application for Residents and type in your relative's details. Make sure you spell their names character-for-character as shown on their passport bio page.
Pick your visa type. A Single-Entry Visa usually lets them stay for 30 days initially (you can extend this up to 270 days inside Absher), while a Multiple-Entry Visa stays valid for a year and allows 90-day stays per visit.
Once you hit submit, the site will generate a form with your official Talab (Application) Number.
Step 2: Getting Employer Approval & Chamber Stamping
Having the Talab number isn't the final approval yet. You still need to verify the request locally inside Saudi Arabia:
Print out the MOFA application form and take it to your company's HR or PRO (Mudoob). They need to sign and stamp it to confirm your employment and monthly salary.
After HR stamps it, the form needs an electronic seal from the Saudi Chamber of Commerce (via their e-Chamber site).
Once chambered, MOFA takes over to review the file. You'll usually see an approval drop in 1 to 5 business days. You can track it on the MOFA portal anytime using your Iqama and Talab numbers.
Step 3: Embassy Stamping & VFS / Tasheer Appointments
When MOFA approves your request, the portal converts your file into a formal Visa Document (Mustanad Estitda'a). Download this PDF and email it to your family back home.
Your relatives then book an appointment at the nearest Saudi Embassy or authorized visa center (VFS / Tasheer) with these items in hand:
The printed MOFA Visa Document.
Their original passports (with 6+ months validity remaining).
Recent passport photographs taken against a white backdrop.
Officially translated relationship documents (like a Marriage Certificate for your spouse or Birth Certificates for children/parents).
Confirmed round-trip flight bookings and mandatory medical insurance registered through the visa portal.
Once the visa sticker is placed in their passport, they can book their travel to Saudi Arabia.
Frequent Mistakes That Cause Quick Rejections
If you want your file approved on the first attempt, watch out for these common mistakes:
Never guess spelling. If your spouse's middle name is spelled slightly differently on the MOFA form compared to their passport, the embassy system will automatically reject the application.
Keep an eye on your Iqama expiry. If you have less than 90 days left or unpaid renewal fees, the MOFA portal won't let you submit a request.
Get your relationship certificates translated into Arabic and properly notarized beforehand so the visa center doesn't turn your family away at the counter.
