Saudi Work Visa Processing Steps In 2026
Onboarding international talent into Saudi Arabia involves an exacting, multi-agency visa workflow. A Saudi Work Visa requires seamless alignment between the employer inside the Kingdom, accredited medical boards, document attestation bodies, and consular authorities.
Understanding each phase of the workflow ensures your international hires arrive on time without onboarding disruption.
The 4 Mandatory Phases of Saudi Work Visa Clearance
Phase 1: Block Visa Authorization & Qiwa Allocation
Before a candidate can lodge an embassy file, the sponsoring Saudi employer must hold active workforce allocations.
Labor Block Approval: The employer secures block visa authorizations through the Qiwa platform under the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD).
Consular Delegation (Enjaz/MOFA): The employer issues an electronic visa authorization power of attorney to the designated agency or embassy submission desk.
Phase 2: Professional Credential Verification (Musadaqa)
The candidate's educational degrees, trade diplomas, and professional certificates must be authenticated.
University Attestation: Academic degrees must undergo verification, local ministry legalization, and formal Saudi Cultural Mission/Embassy stamping (Musadaqa).
Job Title Alignment: The candidate’s verified academic specialization must strictly align with the designated job classification on the Saudi Block Visa.
Phase 3: Medical Clearance & Police Background Audits
Saudi Arabia maintains strict health and security standards for foreign labor entry:
GAMCA / Accredited Medical Examination: Candidates must pass a comprehensive physical and blood examination (checking for infectious diseases, blood panels, chest X-rays, and general fitness) at an officially authorized medical center.
Police Clearance Certificate: An original, clean criminal record check issued by the candidate’s home country police authorities, verified through ministry channels.
Phase 4: Embassy Lodgment & Physical Passport Stamping
Once medical logs are uploaded digitally to the Saudi MOFA database and physical papers are certified, the submission file is lodged at the Saudi Embassy. Upon approval, the physical work visa sticker is stamped into the passport, granting entry to complete local residency (Iqama) processing within 90 days of arrival.
Candidate Document Audit Checklist
Original Passport: Valid for at least 6 to 7 months with two blank visa pages facing each other.
Attested Employment Contract: Signed copy of the employment contract, attested by the Saudi Chamber of Commerce and MOFA.
Approved Medical Report: Signed, stamped, and digitally uploaded medical report.
Clean Police Record: Original certificate, valid within 3 months of submission date.
Attested Academic Degrees: Legalized diplomas with full transcript attachments.
